Post 8: English Language Challenges

Imagen
Hi everyone! this is my new post :D My experience learning English at university has been regular. I remember that the classes I had in English 2 were very bad, my teacher made us few classes and we only had to send videos, in that year I didn't learn much. Everything changed in English 3, my teacher was very good! In that course I met the blogs and every week we had to publish one, as we do now in English 4. I remember that my teacher made us see interviews of Jimmy Fallon to celebrities and it was very entertaining, I think those in person classes would have been just as entertaining, but I would have learned much more to talk. Currently in this course, I think I have learned a little more, clearly it shows that there is another level where we should know much more. I think that the faculty should promote the English language more from writing to oral exams because what we are learning works, but it is basic. They should teach us techniques that we can use in the presentations of...

Post 7: Changes to my study programe

Imagen
Hi everyone! this is my new post :D In general, the architecture career at the University of Chile has had changes in its program. In 2015 the faculty decided to reduce the working hours and the official years of the career. From my perspective, changing the program has positive things, since students have less academic load, study one semester less and the research seminar is in the same year as the bachelor's degree. When the Covid-19 pandemic began I was in my second year of university and in those semesters, I had to learn about design, calculation, and construction, in general those subjects are important for architecture knowledge and being able to study it online was a bad experience. I think that these subjects can be mixed with online classes but also with mandatory visits to the workshops, because students would learn better. Another th...

Post 6: Time travel to the future

Imagen
Hi  this is my post 6!   If I had the possibility to travel back in time, I would like to travel to the past and be in the time of ancient Greece. Greek history is very interesting, mainly since the birth of classical architecture. I would love to be able to learn about the type of construction that the Greeks used with natural materials and without technologica l interventions, as well as the conformation of Greek cities, since when we were in the classical architecture class, my teacher told us about this period and it was very interesting!  I feel that as an architecture student understanding the beginnings of the constructions in the place would be very useful. I would also like to learn about the history of the Greek peoples, their organization, their culture and their way of life, it' s interesting how even today ideas from th...

Post 5: My future job

Imagen
Hi everyone! this is my new blog :D I   think it' s very hasty to talk about work when I haven't  finished my career yet, I feel that it is difficult to say clearly what I would like to work in but thinking about an ideal situation I would like to work as an architect in  a  public service in some municipality, regional government or in some ministry studying public policies related to housing. I think that the housing policy in Chile is very weak and with the knowledge that the university has given me, I would give all my effort to improve it them working within these governmental organizations. I would like to be able to travel through the regions of Chile, researching, knowing the territory and the needs of people with respect to housing policies. I would also like to be able to travel to other countries to know the experiences ...

Blog 4: my career

Hi everyone, this is my new post! Architecture is extremely entertaining but a difficult profession, We have to be learning numerous topics about the city, regulations, material, sustainable constructions, new programs to model, etc. I have been studying architecture for three years and I feel that it’s a fantastic profession because we have countless possibilities and to provide citizens with a quality city. The positive aspect of architecture is that you will always be in contact with people and know their housing realities, as well as with the city and the environment. Architects have the possibility to build new public spaces, housing, planning the city and contribute to new public policies and I think that’s wonderful.  I decided to study architecture because my favorite classes at school were art, history, and mathematics, so it was compatible with the career. In my second year of university, I discovered that I liked history, heritage, and urban planning, and I think...

Blog 2: The best holidays ever

Imagen
Hi everyone, this is my second blog! The best part of the year are the holidays, I love being able to visit new places and travel around the country. One of the best holidays was when I went to Rapa Nui in summer 2019, I spent 10 days on the island where I got to know all the tourist places. This was my first solo trip "outside the country", and it was very special because I had the possibility to visit a place that I never thought I would visit because is very expensive.  When I arrived in Rapa Nui I stayed with a family from the island, who taught me many things about their culture, language, and customs. They took me to Anakena beach, Hanga Roa, Rano Kau volcano, Tongariki and Tahai. I was able to walk through caves, I went fishing with the family, I went to a concert and parties with friends from the island, I toured Hanga Roa by a motorcycle and I saw the magical sunset of the Island with its moais. Easter Island is a quite tourist place and I highly recommend you visit...
