Post 7: Changes to my study programe
In general,
the architecture career
at the University
of Chile has
had changes in
its program. In
2015 the faculty
decided to reduce
the working
hours and the
official years of
the career. From
my perspective, changing
the program has
positive things, since
students have less
academic load, study
one semester less
and the research
seminar is in
the same year
as the bachelor's degree.
When the
Covid-19 pandemic began
I was in
my second year
of university and
in those semesters,
I had to
learn about design,
calculation, and construction,
in general those
subjects are important
for architecture knowledge
and being able
to study it
online was a
bad experience. I
think that these
subjects can be
mixed with online
classes but also
with mandatory visits
to the workshops,
because students would
learn better.
Another thing I would change
in the program
would be the
indirect hours of
the classes, since
there are many
cases where the
working hours are
extensive and occupy
you all day,
being very exhausting
for the students.
It would also
increase the hours
of English because
there is little
that is learned
during the race,
or it would
include new languages
so that students
have new knowledge.
The infrastructure
of the faculty
of architecture is
old and patrimonial
so the interventions
that can be
made to the
building are minimal
in its design.
What would change
would be to
incorporate new
rooms for workshops
outside the faculty,
use other spaces
of the university
of Chile so
that students can
meet other faculties.
Ah yes, it would be awesome if the university reduced our indirect study hours
ResponderEliminarI do not know anything about the architecture career :( but indirect schedules are a topic
ResponderEliminarI like the idea of the new rooms that you propose, it is quite necessary to socialize especially after this context of pandemic
